Welch Allyn Flexiport System Blood Pressure Cuffs

Created to simplify the life of the healthcare professional, the Flexiport system from Welch Allyn allows you to select the correct cuff and tube arrangement for virtually any blood pressure device.

The Flexiport system allows the same selection of cuffs to be shared among an array of devices.  Simply attach a single (W6515/5) connector to each BPM or sphyg and select from the range of cuffs available.

Additional connectors and cuffs can be purchased at any time.  The tubeless cuffs are colour coded to make selection even more convenient and are latex-free to minimise the risks of allergic reactions.

NICE Guidelines for Measuring Hypertension in Adults states that an appropriate cuff size for the person's arm is used CG 127 [1.1.5].

Why cuff size matters?

If the cuff size is wrong for the patient, it could give a reading that is too high or too low. To avoid this, the air bladder inside the cuff should fit around at least 80% of the arm but not more than 100%.

If the cuff is not big enough, then the cuff may not be able to completely close off the blood vessels. In this case, the bladder will inflate too much and the monitor will give a higher reading than it should. While if the cuff is too large, then the cuff will inflate on itself; this means that it will cut off the blood supply to easily and the monitor will give a lower reading than it should.
