Each T Shaped SMB Copper - T 380A (TCu 380A) is composed of T frame (32 mm wide and 36 mm Long) is made from compound of Low Density Polyethylene and Barium Sulphate (15% - 24%) wound with 165 to 187 mg of 0.25 mm diameter copper wire, and one copper sleeves of weight of 68.7± 3 mg on each horizontal arm providing a total surface area of 380 mm2 ± 23 mm2. The ‘T’ is equipped with highdensity polyethylene thread (suture) for easy removal. It is packed together with an insertion tube and solid rod in a Continuous Polymer film pouch. The insertion tube is equipped with a movable flange to aid in gauging the depth to which the insertion tube should be inserted through the cervical canal and into the uterine cavity.The Copper T 380A IUD is supplied sterile in a sealed primary pack together with an insertion device consisting of a HDPE Tube, a moveable flange and a rod. The moveable plastic flange is positioned on the insertion tube to control the depth of insertion and to locate the IUD correctly within the uterus during insertion. The insertion Rod keeps the Copper T 380A IUD correctly positioned within the uterus while the insertion Tube is removed.
