What Avaxim is and what is it used for:

Avaxim is a vaccine. Vaccines are used to protect you against infectious diseases. This vaccine helps to protect against hepatitis A infection in people 16 years of age and older. Hepatitis A infection is due to a virus that attacks the liver. It may be caught from food or drink that contains the virus. Symptoms include yellowing of the skin (jaundice) and feeling generally unwell. When you are given an injection of Avaxim, your body’s natural defenses will produce protection against hepatitis A infection.

Features

Nature and contents of container
• 0.5 ml of suspension in pre-filled syringe (type I glass) with a plunger-stopper (bromochlorobutyl or chlorobutyl or bromobutyl) and attached needle and needle-shield (natural rubber or polyisoprene).
• 0.5 ml of suspension in pre-filled syringe (type I glass) with a plunger-stopper (bromochlorobutyl or chlorobutyl or bromobutyl), without needle.
• Packs of 1, 5, 10 and 20 syringes.
• 0.5 ml of suspension in pre-filled syringe (type I glass) with a plunger-stopper (bromochlorobutyl or chlorobutyl or bromobutyl), with 1 or 2 separate needles (for each syringe).
• Packs of 1 and 10 syringes.

Special precautions for storage
• Store in a refrigerator (2°C - 8°C).
• Do not freeze. If frozen, the vaccine should be discarded.
• Store in the original package in order to protect from light.

Note: As this item requires to be stored between 2 and 8°C, it is considered cold chain supply and so will not be shipped to customers on a Friday.
